Interactive Game of Life

I am really interested in the dynamic nature of the Game of Life simulation. In this page, you are able to select whatever starting configuration you wish. You may set the grid size and select whichever cells you wish to be turned on to initialize the simulaation. It is interesting to play with various strucutres and ee how they devleop. I enjoy trying to see what I can do to set the initial conditions and see how long the system can evolve chaotically. You can also jsut set the pattern randomly if you don't want to configure it.

Click on cells to toggle them on/off before starting the simulation

Rules:

  1. Any live cell with fewer than two live neighbors dies (underpopulation)
  2. Any live cell with two or three live neighbors lives on to the next generation
  3. Any live cell with more than three live neighbors dies (overpopulation)
  4. Any dead cell with exactly three live neighbors becomes a live cell (reproduction)
